More About Sagging Skin

Aging is a fact of life but you don’t have to just give in gracefully, you can fight back with modern science. Great strides have been made recently and amazing results are possible with a little effort.

Skin aging occurs for two reasons:

1. Age
2. Exposure to the sun

After 40 the epidermis becomes thinner and the turnover of skin cells slows down. The Dermis also thins and the production of Collagen and Elastin declines significantly. Sub-dermal fat may be reduced and Hyaluronic acid production declines causing a loss of support for the skin. The result is sagging and wrinkles, our uninvited guest, the aging process. The aging process has a staunch ally, the sun.

Photo-aging, the sun, is responsible for much more visible aging than biological aging. Cover up and use quality sun screen products all year round. That subject merits a blog post all of its own (coming soon) or if you prefer pop in for a free consultations. A little knowledge in this area goes a long way.

To keep your epidermis looking as fit as possible use Tretinoin cream every night. Use Hyaluronic acid derivatives (fillers) to replace volume in your face around the nasolabial folds, circles under the eyes and lips. Finally consider Laser treatment which stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the dermis allowing the body to regenerate itself more naturally. Our understanding of the aging process has increased dramatically in the last few years. Fight back, stay informed and seek out the expertise that is now available, you will be amazed.
